Introduction
Spencer Civil & Earthworks’ Health and Safety Policy, outlines the duties and obligations of company stakeholders regarding a safe working environment. Spencer Civil & Earthworks fully accepts any rules and regulations pertaining to health and safety as enacted by relevant legislation.
Obligations
Spencer Civil & Earthworks recognises that the health and safety of all workers and visitors is of the utmost importance and we are committed to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all of our stakeholders. To do so, we will take all necessary and reasonable measures to ensure that all our operations are carried out safely and do not pose any danger to either the workers or other stakeholders.
We will do this through encouraging participative and cooperative efforts between management and workers, providing effective management systems, enabling open consultation with our workers, and providing regular training to ensure all staff are aware of health and safety in the workplace.
Company Responsibilities
Spencer Civil & Earthworks will ensure the following to provide a safe and healthy environment:
- Ensure a safe work environment by ensuring all equipment is well maintained and up to date regarding relevant safety requirements;
- Provision of safety equipment for employees including sun-safe work attire and appropriate footwear and hard-hats where relevant;
- Provide periodic safety awareness and appropriate training for employees, and require all staff to undertake this training;
- Provide a handbook for employees outlining expectations and processes through which any health and safety concerns can be addressed;
- Listen to workers’ concerns about health and safety and cooperate with them to mitigate such concerns.
Worker Responsibilities
Spencer Civil & Earthworks employees and workers have the following responsibilities:
- All staff and workers will adhere to the safety practices to their maximum capacity
- They will ensure reasonable care of themselves and their co-workers;
- Participate in all required training and safety training
- Wear appropriate protective equipment while working
- Maintain work equipment in a safe and appropriate manner as outlined in the employee handbook, and report any concerns with equipment to Spencer Civil & Earthworks promptly
- Read and comply with the instructions and requirements provided by Spencer Civil & Earthworks, and those of all worksites where Spencer Civil & Earthworks are contracted.
General
It is everyone’s responsibility to contribute to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. This includes adhering to Spencer Civil & Earthworks policies and procedures, complying with any specific requirements of worksites where Spencer Civil is contracted, and to report any concerns with equipment or work practices in a prompt and appropriate manner.
